And Then One Fell

And Then One Fell

A stone
to roll to ground,
Take root to place,
it shoots.
See air
the sky my view,
of bare the snow and cold.
Old tree, this tree,
came axes,
and carried it away.
Leaves to shade
around to lay.
There. All alone.

Erasure poetry, text from Friendly Fairies, The Old Rough Stone
and The Gnarled Tree
